    TrendNet MP1U Print Server problem

I cannot find an answer in the forum, so I am posting this as a new topic.

I have a TrendNet MP1U Print Server that is intended to allow printing from 4 machines on an HP LaserJet 1020 printer, 2 of them Windows, the other 2 Kubuntu Jaunty Jackalope. The Windows machines print fine with this print server. But the Kubuntu machines will not. I have attached the printer directly to one of the Kubuntu machines, and it prints fine if I do that, so I am assuming it is not a problem with the printer. I can ping the server from my Kubuntu machines, so it is not a network problem.

I have tried to set it up three different ways:

socket gives an error "Unable to write print data: Broken pipe"

IPP gives an error "Destination printer does not exist!"

lpd gives an error "/usr/lib/cups/backend/lpd failed"

I'm kind of stuck now. I have been Googling error messages for the last few days to see if anyone had resolved this, but so far I have not found the answer. Can anyone help me, or give me a pointer in the right direction? My guess is that there is a clue in /var/log/cups/error.log, but I don't know what to look for there.

    Thank you,

Re: TrendNet MP1U Print Server problem

    Hi

Sorry if this is obvious, but have you tried to add a network printer in the System Settings? Many protocols are supported, included ipp; I am printing from my eeepc into my HP AIO printer connected to my kubuntu desktop with no issues (and no command line trickery whatsoever)

    HTH!
