How to switch off the automounter in jaunty jackalope (kubuntu 9.04)

    Hi folks

Until the last version of KDE I could mount USB devices from the command line by
    typing

    pmount /dev/sdb1 /media/mydisk

However, this command line oriented mounting does not seem to be possible anymore:
    I get

Error: device /dev/sdb1 is not removable.

Any idea how to switch off (temporarily) the automounter?

    Thanks a lot

    Ok, but be careful!

And, you'll have to enter your password every time you mount a removable device:

    1. Press Alt+F2 and enter:
    sudo polkit-gnome-authorization
    2. Go to Storage => Mount file systems from removable drivers
    3. Press the "Edit..." button
    4. Choose "Active Console: <b>Authentication</b>"
    5. Press the "Modify..." button

There is a similar application called "polkit-kde-authorization", but it doesn't have the necessary switches.
