Black Screen with Flashing prompt after graphics driver install

First off excuse me if i'm missing something simple here but im new to this.

I did the following:

I used the kde software manager to remove nvidia drivers version 180.44 which were install via envy.

i then moved out of x and shut down kdm through the kdm stop command

i removed the neccessary files out of the init.d directory

i installed the 180.51 invidia drivers though during installation the installer required something to do with interfacing with my kernel which it had to create a file for as it couldnt find one. I didnt pay attention to this at the time.

once installed i restarted kdm through kdm start

following this i restarted my machine and on startup i was presented with a fancy flashing prompt on a black screen.

subsequently i have tried the startx command and im presented with a series of horrible errors

(EE) Unable to find valid framebuffer device
(EE) NV(0): Failed to open framebuffer device, consult warnings and/or errors above etc
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable config

Fatal server error:
no screens found

xinit: No such file or directory (erno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (erno 3): Server error

Don't feel bad, unless you're looking at that error for the 40th time (like I have ....).

FYI, they have a new Beta driver available -- 185.18.08 -- I haven't had time to try it, but I routinely run the Beta drivers on my Kubuntu system with no ill effects:

Haha alrighty well this my first black screen so il expect many more then!!!!!!
