I'm at the pulling my hair out stage, ready to hit the format button in frustration point in time

Every year or so I come back to try out different Linux Distro's to see if I can finally dump the Microsoft stuff. Kubuntu's always been my favorite, I'm a sucker for eye candy

I'm an MCSE, 30 years computing experiance, limited Linux knowledge. Pretty standard core2duo E6600, 4gig ram, ATI 4550, Intel chipset based motherboard type Media Center. With, a Hybrid TV card - Geniatech X8000T.

I've searched, seen posts where people have solved the same problem, but none detailing how >

Can anyone help me to get this supported cards "module?" to load so I can use it?

Well, after almost two weeks of trying to build a media center pc based on Kubuntu 9.04 & MythTV, I've given up. The TV card has me beaten, I've lost count of how many web pages I've visited with the same problem, the number of mod this, ins that, cx-bla de bla. I could never get the card modules to load, never get a scan, apparently my frontend was missing The Plasma is there - almost had my foot through it with this sick joke a few times - that's the only front end I'm bothered about

So, fdsik, Vista DVD in, couple of hours later, patched to the latest level & watching Blu Ray with a working GeniaTech X8000T & 70+ Freeview channels 8) Ain't that how it's supposed to be? Not a modprobe, insmod, cx88, sudo, make.........in sight.

I like Linux, Kubuntu 9.04 looks sweet - just wish it worked fa me It's just not suited to someone who's had a heart attack & has high blood pressure, like me
