Re: No cdrom drive in 9.04
Nothing, it does not mount and if I try to mount it says that threre is no cdrom in fstab or mtab. I have looked at fstab and there is a listing for the cdrom in there but no drive will mount for it. I can here the cdrom running when i put a cd in it but then it spins down and nothing else happens. I get this error> "/media/cdrom0$ mount /media/cdrom0
mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so"
and after running dmesg I get this
[ 472.153716] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 973188
[ 472.159739] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 974428
[ 472.165741] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 973180
[ 472.171672] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1248
[ 472.177687] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 2496
[ 472.183776] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1248
[ 472.195540] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 2496
[ 472.195569] UDF-fs: No partition found (1)
[ 472.261796] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 64
[ 472.261817] isofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=sr0, iso_blknum=16, block=16
Ok I looked in /dev/disk and there is no cdrom only my two hard drives. I also looked in dev/cdrom and there is no cdrom there either.
so any ideals?
Forgot to say that I am also using the nvidia kernel 180.29 something and the 2.6.11

Re: No cdrom drive in 9.04
Hi
I'm having a similar problem in 8.04.
If you solved the issue and see this, can you let me know how you succeeded?
I've started a new topic here:

Re: No cdrom drive in 9.04
Well, I'm facing with same kind of problem, when i boot up my laptop with a cd in the tray(data, dvd, music, whatever), kubuntu recognizes it, if I eject, and put another cd, no action is taken, there's no new device indication....
but I discovered something, if i put to sleep or hibernate computer, when the computer awakes, there's a cd!
interesting....if not the problem has been solved, at least there's an advance..
