Desktop Effects have stopped working entirely

    Hello,

As of a couple of weeks ago, Desktop Effects stopped working for me and I don't know why. As in, I can enable and configure them in System Settings, but nothing happens at all - not even window shadows. It's like compositing has just ceased to work.

Details: I'm running KDE 4.2.2 on Kubuntu 8.10. uname -a:

    Linux nebula 2.6.27-14-generic #1 SMP Fri Mar 13 18:00:20 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

Any suggestions of how I can work out what the problem is here will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Happened to ME2...

It overloads easy it seems especially with lots of windows and Internet going strong so, if it is same as what happened to my system then: shift/alt/F12 will correct it

    Cheers

Sorry, I think you've misunderstood - this isn't compositing being turned off due to load level. Thanks though.
