Re: kubuntu 8.10 hangs
@dibl: thanks for your comment. Yes, as I said before, I have 1.2 GB assigned for swap, but I've never seen that memory as being used. It's always at zero (used). I have 2gb of ram, so, I guess I don't need a lot of swap... but I'm not an expert so maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, in this post you can see my memory usage (it's an old post).
In another post I wrote the results of my harddrive tests... the thing is that I don't really understand them. Maybe you can diagnose something from it. Here it is.
Another thing that I did recently was to run a fdisk test (from a live cd). I don't remember all the results, but I'm sure I remember that it showed "badblocks = 0".
And yes, after installing Jaunty, I installed the latest driver from Nvidia (they're required in order to run Opengl applications, like some games and screensavers). Actually, I've used all the nvidia drivers, from 179.* to 180.* but none of them has made a real difference.
@aimar: Maybe it's not a big difference, but I've read that there is an increment in harddisk speed thanks to the new file system.
