    login screen

Hi All, this is my first post so hi to everyone.
I just switched from Ubuntu to Kubuntu and I love KDE it's so much nicer than Gnome.
Anyway, I just have one thing that is bugging me.
When I get to the login screen (The KDM I think it's called), the login screen does not seem to fill the whole screen and I get a fuzzy mess showing around the sides.
Is there anyway that this can be resolved as it makes the log in screen look very messy.
    Many thanks
    Garry

    Re: login screen

    Welcome.

Question: Once you do log in (and yes, it is the KDM Log in screen), is your desktop displayed as you expect it to be?

Question: What video card/chip (manufacture/model) do you have?

Hi Snowhog thanks 4 the quick reply. Yes when I log in the desktop is as it should be and all looks and works fine.
The video card is an Intel 945 Express Mobile Chipset
      Many thanks

        Re: login screen

Seems you have the same chip set that I do. You are using a laptop?

        From a console:
        Code:
        lspci | grep Graphics
        shows:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
I have no problem with the KDM log in screen. Have you shutdown/restarted at all yet?

          Re: login screen

I'm at work at the moment but yes I have shutdown many times and it still looks the same everytime I log in. Basically I get the silver oxygen theme background but I can kind of see the blue desktop behind the KDM but there is a lot of fuzz over it all (Sorry can't think of a better description).
Maybe the KDm is damaged, is there a way to purge the old kdm and re-download. Or, can the settings be adjusted somewhere to fill the log-in screen?

            Re: login screen

Here are the graphic card details I just got from the Terminal command -

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

Is the logimn screen issue something to do with the graphics card I wonder?

Or, is there anyway that I can change the KDM background myself maybe with another background.

            Hope someone can help.

            Thanks

            Garry
