    KDE 4.2 Upgrade problem (SOLVED)

Okay this has happened twice now. I freshly installed Kubuntu 8.10. Then, after I upgrade the system to it being up to date, I try to install KDE 4.2. The problem is, when I try to install everything, I get some error telling me to apt-get install -f. So I do, and it seems to go. When I reboot into KDE 4.2, it seems to have worked except

    A. there are no window borders
    B. I can't type on much. not in the search bar from the K button or terminal
    C. There is no network manager, so I can't even get online to check the problem.

any ideas guys? waht am I doing wrong? it worked once before... and now i cant seem to figure out what happened.

No problem -- we are very forgiving.

There is a lot of accumulated knowledge in the previous posts on this forum, although KDE 4 is, of course, a new bucket of .... errrrrr set of intriguing challenges.
