Problem after upgrading firefox to 3.0.6

I installed Kubuntu 8.10 yesterday, and installed firefox (3.0.5). No problems. This morning, the upgrade to 3.0.6 was available, so I upgraded to it using synaptic. Now, when I start firefox, I just get a blank window. The title is "Mozilla Firefox" but the icon in the top left corner is the standard X icon, not the firefox icon. I've tried to remove and reinstall, but no luck. I disabled the security upgrade repository and went back to 3.0.3. Same. I tried complete removal and reinstallation. Same. No error messages that I can see. I don't know where to look next. Synaptic doesn't think anything is broken.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? I suppose I could download from the mozilla site and install myself, but I prefer to use synaptic if possible.

    Hello plongstaff.

When you remove and reinstall it, it pays to delete (or re-name) the .mozilla directory in your /home.

If you use Konqueror, enable ->View ->Show hidden files to see it.

It is also simple to use Ubuntuzilla to install it: http://ubuntuzilla.wiki.sourceforge.net/
