K3b Error - NO CD/DVD Drive found

I just updated to the latest kernel update and ever since then I can not use any burning software since they come with the same message. I enjoy using K3B beter.

I ran lshw with the old kernel(2.6.27-7) and it show the dvd drive but when I use the new one (2.6.27-11) it disappears.


Any ideas guys?

Does that Sony optical drive show up on the PCI bus, when you run lspci? Is it a very old optical drive? Can you post the lspci output?

It's possible that there was some change in the included kernel modules from -7 to -11 that causes it not to be accessible. I hope you didn't delete the old kernel yet -- you may need it to do CD burning.

Hmm well I did do lspci and it did not show up in the old kernel but it is there somehow. Also the drive is not too old it is from 2005 its is a Sony DRU-710A . This is what lspci says
