When I right click on my desktop to add an icon to an application there seems no way to do it like in kde 3.5. Is this a bug or is done differently?

Re: Adding Icons to desktop on 4.2
If I've followed the discussions on this, you can't change the icon that is pre-associated with an application. I may be wrong, but ....Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Re: Adding Icons to desktop on 4.2
I don't want to change one I want to add one. In 3.5 adding an icon to link to an application was as simple as right clicking and selecting link to application. Doesn't seem as easy in KDE 4.2. Do I have to do it a different way or is it not possible.Oneiric 11.10 KDE Version 4.7.4
Duo core 1.8 Intel
4 gig ram
Nvidia Go 7300 Graphics
Dell E1505 Laptop

I'm a happy pappy with Linux on my lappy!!!

Re: Adding Icons to desktop on 4.2
To do what you are describing in KDE 4, it's as simple as opening K Menu, navigating to the application you want to have on your desktop, clicking (and holding) and dragging to the desktop and letting go. Of course, this works if the application exists in the K Menu structure.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
