    Usability gimp krita koffice openoffice

    Hi,

I currently have OO and GIMP installed. However I have been sort of swayed to removing them and use lighter options instead, being krita and koffice.

My question now is is krita easier to use. I'm not worried about it's power since all I use such apps for is simple editing cropping and airbrushing. Also since it's lighter I'm guessing the load time is quicker?

My other question is about kword. What is missing in kword that is in OO? All I want to use a word processor for is just simple normal stuff nothing corporate.

What is the drawbacks of using krita and kword/koffice

I think that for some kinds of work, Krita is an excellent replacement for GIMP. It's less powerful, but still works nicely for most tasks.

As for kword, I've tried it, but ended up prefering AbiWord over both kword and OOo. AbiWord just feels more right for me, it has the "right" feature set. I also like that it's fairly light, and that it works for Windows as well (I still have to use Windows on some machines, for various legacy reasons. When you have ten million lines of code you've written for Windows, you just don't drop it, and no one else is likely to port it for me...). I really recommend giving AbiWord a spin.

The first program I load after installing an operating system is Abiword. Its small, compact and very fast, and if all you want to do is basic stuff, its perfect. Tables and bullets are not perfected yet, but will work adequately.

I have never been able to warm to Kword, although it is a competent program. Somehow it doesn't seem very intuitive to me, and I dislike the opening interface. It will do some nice things with pdf files that other word processors don't however.
