I'm going to date myself by noting that it's been more than ten years since I've tried to let FreeBSD and linux share a file system . . .
Anyway, back then, neither played nice with the other's file system. If memory serves, linux would from time to time throw random garbage into files on a freebsd (ufs) file system, while freebsd would damage the partition table for linux with the slightest error in mounting (or, maybe it was the other way around). Neither was capable of fscking the other at the time, either.
I'd like to try again on a laptop, but does anyone know if it is safe these days?
