help with keyTouch for Saitek keyboard

i have a brand new, beautiful Saitek Cyborg gaming keyboard with 12 macro keys on the sides.
i used Synaptic Package Manager to install keyTouch 2.3.2-2.1ubuntu1 along with the definitions and editor (version 1.3.1.3-2).

my problem is with the editor.
i'll run the program, it sees two "Chicony Saitek Cyborg Keyboard" event devices, but after selecting either of them, clicking OK, and pressing any of the macro buttons the test window doesn't disappear to confirm i've chosen the right keyboard.

when i run the keyTouch program, it doesn't list my keyboard as an option.

i'm wanting to use the macros to bring up programs, websites, type out a series of characters, etc...
any advice to point me in the right direction?

Im not sure if u tried this or not, i havent tried configuring mine for kubuntu yet, but using windows the keyboard has to be in cyborg mode[ by pressing the head at the top of the keyboard] other wise the buttons are in active. If you haven't tried that give it a go : )
