Left mouse button double-clicking (or more) when pressed.

Beginning within the last couple weeks my Logitech wireless mouse has started to have problems with left-clicking. Seemingly at random it will multi-click instead of single click when I press it. It does this maybe 3 or 4 times out of ten clicks. This problem doesn't seem to affect the right button or any other buttons on the mouse. Could this be a linux issue or should I be examining the hardware side of things?

95% probability it's the electrical switch in the mouse button. The phenomenon is called "bounce" - it happens when a contact switch gets worn, and forms a weak intermittent contact instead of a single firm connection. Sorry.
