    Gimp Help! [SOLVED]

    How can I make a graphic like a signature graphic have a transparent background using Gimp?

    I would like the response to please cover how to for an existing graphic as well as for a new one created in Gimp.

    For an existing image you need to add an alpha channel. You can do this by right-clicking on the image in the Layers dialog and choosing Add Alpha Channel. From there anything you erase will erase to transparency. You'll then need to export the file when you're done in a format that supports transparency. PNG is a good choice.

    For a new file the alpha channel will already exist. You just need to export your finished file in a format that supports transparency.

    If you need more specific instructions, there are tons of tutorials on the internet about how to use gimp to make signature graphics, text effects, etc.

      Fast way is with kolourpaint very easy and doe the transparentness you are looking for.
