    QTParted will not run SOLVED

I am trying to run QTParted and running into problems.

When I click on QTParted to run it, I get a poop up box that says:
QTParted-root needs administrative privileges. Please enter your password.

    Command qtparted-root
    and asks for a password.

    I enter the root password

Then I get an error box that says:
Eroor-KdeSudo in the box lable and Command not found in the box

I am new to Linux and I am lost at this point. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

I believe you need to type this:

    Code:
    kdesudo qtparted
kdesudo will apply your root password to the application typed after it.

I had the same problem. Someone mentioned that you should run the previous poster's command in bash (Konsole). Worked fine after that, except for the fact that it cannot work with NTFS partitions

        Re: QTParted will not run

        you guys should try
        gparted
        (install it through Adept)
        or free download, Live CD:
        GParted: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
        GParted how-to: http://www.howtoforge.com/partitioning_with_gparted

        much better imo

QTParted never did run but Gparted did. Thank you.

            Good.
I think a poll would reveal that GParted is considered by most users as more stable, safer, and usable than QtParted. Having GParted on a Live Cd is an invaluable tool -- it even contains a command line and other tools (testdisk, and other utilities) -- a nice way to see your partition layout.

Well it can work with ntfs, if you have the 'ntfsprogs' package installed (the package provides the backend tools for ntfs)

Anyway, qtparted doesn't seem to be developed anymore...so you're likely better of using gparted (or the new kde partitionmanager. It's in alpha so there might be bugs...I haven't run into any, though)
