    [SOLVED] Changing CPU Policy

Everytime I manually change CPU policy from dynamic to powersaver (with power cord plugged into the notebook), it automatically locks the screen. Is there anyway to do this without it locking the screen?

Also, can I create my own power modes? like if I change to powersaver, the screen brightness gets dimmed?

    This is a guidance-power-manager bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...-power-manager

You may remove guidance-power-manager and install powerdevil.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get remove guidance-power-manager
    sudo apt-get install powerdevil
Configure powerdevil from System Settings->Advanced->Power Management.

Why switch to powerdevil? Read here:

      Re: Changing CPU Policy

Does powerdevil have an easy/quick way to switch between profiles/modes? From that link, it seems that there is no system tray, but I read that it said something about integrating with a widget?

      Can someone elaborate on that?

        Re: Changing CPU Policy

Powerdevil integrates with the Battery Monitor plasma widget, but that with KDE4.2 afaik. Idk if that can be done in KDE4.1.3

Edit: If you want a systray icon, use kpowersave. It does almost everything powerdevil does, plus it has a systray icon. Get the 0.7.3 version (designed for KDE 3.5.10) in repos.
