Evolution won't empty trash

kubuntu 8.10, Evolution 2.24.1

As the subject says, it won't empty trash. I don't see any errors, just nothing happens. I did a search and tried a couple of things I've found (delete the trash.cmeta from the .evolution folder) and nothing changes. Any tips?

solved this evidently. I unchecked the automatically delete trash on exit and then I could delete the trash. Strange that it wasn't deleting the files itself...
