Not sure if this is what you are looking for; I wrote it using 8.04 (haven't messed with 8.10 yet):

    Privacy Cleanup 101

To my knowledge CCleaner does not yet have Linux capability, but I know the issue has come up over there. Haven't seen anything similar.

In any case, the Privacy Cleanup will, at the very least, give you something to start on.

malibu, I can't help but wonder what the purpose of what you're asking would be. Since no user but yourself and the sys admin can read what's in your home folder are you really doing anything that needs to be hidden from the sys admin? No need for you to answer me, what you choose to do isn't really my business anyway. Do lots of people have access to this computer?

What you have suggested will remove the configuration you have made but are you sure you want that? You could remove the whole .kde folder and start with default values each time but most people would be unhappy with their system if they did that.

If you are a bit more specific and tell a bit more about what you are trying to achieve someone might have an alternate suggestion on how to do that. Do you want to erase the browser cache so there's no trace of your Internet activity? If you happen to use Firefox or Opera, even deleting the whole .kde won't clear those browser caches.

Another option for privacy might be encryption of your home folder, however, it will be very, very, private if you forget your passphrase.

        hi tinker mike

i certainly don't want to erase kde's configuration

i'm interested in erasing kde application's history like last files opened by kate, kword or last media played in dragon player...

Well, I still don't see why you would want to do it but see if what you want to remove is located in folders like these in your home folder:

          .kde/share/apps/RecentDocuments

          .kde/share/apps/kate/sessions
