VLC player doesn't work in 8.10

I have VLC player installed. It doesn't come up when I click on it. I used to work in 8.4.

VLC in 8.10 works for me. I have used it.

Have you tried to reinstall it?

Run "vlc" from a konsole to see its output, see if that leads down the right direction. Are you running as root, if so it's no longer runs as root. You can see my rant about that here and here. I recommend considering other players like mplayer and xine.

You can try removing your VLC preferences
      Code:
      rm -fr ~/.vlc
If you "uninstall / reinstall" make sure you purge it, so it removes your preferences.
