Intrepid Kubuntu - Firefox & Evolution display weirdness (SOLVED)

I am running 8.10 Kubuntu, with firefox and evolution installed via standard apt-get methods.

The whole display of these two applications does not seem to render correctly, in firefox, the tabs all seem to be one continuous line, and if you mouse over the tabs, the background disappears altogether.

In evolution the column headers all look like they have text that they have overwitten, but not refreshed.

I know these are primarily gnome apps, but they have always worked in the past. Am I possibly missing a render library or similar?

Try go to System Configuration -> Appearance -> GTK Font and Styles and then mark "Choose another Style: Raleigh".

(i am not sure about the names because my kde is in portuguese, but the idea is the same)

      Perfect, that worked a charm.

I also saw the button to fix firefox & thunderbird too, which I applied while I was there.

      Many thanks.
