    Wifi doesn't start automatically (solved)

I have an Atheros 5007 wireless card in my laptop.

I've installed the latest madwifi drivers, did make, make install and sudo modprobe ath_pci
With the last command, the ath0 becomes visible in networkmanager.
After reboot however, ath0 disappears. You can do the command sudo modprobe ath_pci again and ath0 becomes visible, but I want it to happen automatically at startup (which was standard in Kubuntu 8.04).
I've looked at system settings -> advanced and the autostart button, but that doesn't seem to help.

Has anybody a tip to load ath0 automatically at startup? Thanks in advance!

My mistake, I forgot to edit /etc/modprobe.d/options
    Wireless now starts automatically.

Still I wonder why this problem occurs with 8.10 and not with 8.04
