    Firefox depends on Synaptic?

I noticed that when installed Firefox in Intrepid, it pulled in a whole bunch of stuff, including Synaptic. So, if we want Firefox, we have to put up with an extra package manager? Doesn't make sense to me.

That's not normal. I have FF installed and upgraded and Synaptic is nowhere to be found on my system.

It was installed from the very start on mine.

I use it in preference to the latest incarnation of Adept.

          Hi all!!

I've done a fresh install of my system, and apt-get/aptitude/adept tell me I need install some packages, included Synaptic, as dependences of Firefox.

What was about Firefox and KDE integration with Intrepid??!!

          Bye!

Here's a cool workaround for this problem: http://blog.ryanak.ca/archives/planet-ubuntu/21
It also explains why this problem is occurring.
