    kde 4.1.2

Kde 4.1.2 panel difference between OSUSE 11.1 and Kubuntu 8.10 ? OSUSE panel has additional panel setting that allow hiding panel and sizing the panel. Kubuntu 8.10 does not ? Both are KDE 4.1.2.

Very simple: opensuse are taking some features from 4.2 and patching 4.1.2 to add some of these things in. like the desktop cube, which the devs here tried adding to our KDE but was found to be unstable in 4.1.2 so was removed. We can size the panel already, don't know what is different in opensuse's setup

OSUSE can size the panel vertically fits with larger icons and fonts. Rite now Kubuntu only allows horizontal placement. And also hide the panel completely like ms and kde3.5. Its a feature multimedia types like a lot with tv. Its called more settings in the panel.

I can drag my panel taller, and the icon/fonts resize (unless I go insanely huge)

As I said, opensuse and their legion of developers (as compared to kubuntu) are taking code from the as-yet-unreleased KDE4.2 and making it work in KDE4.1.2 I assume for their alpha/beta version?

We'll get the 4.2 features soon enough (January) though it would be nice to check some of the new stuff out

I originally had osuse 11.1 beta with kde 4.1.2 but it was a bit betish for me. Went to 11.0 and went to kde website and installed 4.1.2 with the one click option. Thanks about the the dragging panel up an resizing of icon/fonts didn't know that. Had some doubts bout kde 4 but looks like they will have it ready soon.

Have you tried to make it smaller than original size? Something like tiny size setting in KDE 3.5?

it gets fairly small (prob not as small ask 'tiny' in 3.5x) but then it starts pushing the icons off the bottom of the screen. Tiny is waay to small for me anyway , but I have my panel smaller than in a stock Hardy's kicker

                For testing kde4.2:

I don't recommend using this with a intrepid install (it may break your intrepid upgrades) but that is another story.

                Works fine with my hardy.

                KDE4.2 will be very sexy
