    kwin cube effect has suddenly disappeared

    I have been using the intrepid beta version for the last 2 weeks, and everything was going very smoothly.

    However after my last "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade", the kwin cube/sphere effects have suddenly disappeared... even the "Configure Window Behaviour" dialog seems to have been downgraded to a version i saw several weeks ago.

    Am i missing something here... ?

      Intrepid is beta code with only a few weeks until it goes online. Expect more of the unexpected, they appear to be at the stage of twiddling a lot with X...

      For now you just have to wait and pray to the gods that there is an update that fixes your problem - that is what you get for living on the cutting edge

        I have intel here:

        00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

        Cube effects was working fine until today. Then the option just disappeared.

        I agree about "living on the edge" (and i love it mostly ), however, it just seemed that some of the kwin desktop effects were downgraded/removed. Everything that is available still works fine...

        I also have the problem of my external monitor (ASUS VW222 @ 1650x1050) flickering off/on every 7 odd seconds. It was working fine in 8.04. Mind you, I have the same problem with other external monitors, at different resolutions, so I guess it's not the monitor that is at fault. I am just going to wait until the official release to see if this problem is resolved.

          Same here the cube/cylinder/sphere are now missing from desktop effects, no doubt they will be back with the next update. Always a surprise every day with beta, never boring

              Yea, It's a real bummer for me too. I just got back into the habit of having a cube, damn useful. Now I have to wait. Hopefully we don't have to wait until January.

                Compiz is working for me, including the Emerald decorator. This is on the fully updated Intrepid Ibex system with the newest kernel running. If the alternative is waiting until January, you might want to give it a try.

                    Yes... I was considering giving compiz a whirl, and I have used it before (when I was a gentoo fanboy ). I have been sticking with the kwin effects due to the ease and "integration" into the general kde environment... but I *do* like impressing my M$ colleagues with the cube
