    kde 4.1.2

Does anyone know how to get firefox icon from the menu to the desktop? Rite klik and add to desktop gets me cant read flag. This seems to be true of any menu application that is not a kde 4 application.

Yeah, I just went through that. I'm not exactly sure what I did ... I did Alt-F2 and ran kmenuedit. I expanded the "Internet" item and I looked at the Firefox menu item and it said the command is "firefox %u". While kmenuedit was still open, I again right-clicked the Firefox item in the main menu, and chose "add to panel" and the damned thing showed up correctly. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. :P

Well, I got lucky twice -- I just got done installing VMware Player 2.5, so I right-clicked that one and chose "add to panel" and now it's on there too!

If you get the stupid little gear, can you right-click it and choose "icon settings", and then in the window change it to read "kde4-firefox", for example? That's what my Firefox icon says.

You did lead me to the answer-- change the %c to %i-- which stands for icon.

I was able to put Firefox on my desktop my right clicking on the menu icon and clicking menu editor. Going to where Firefox was and dragging it to my desktop. Hope this helps.
