    The Warning
This is an alpha/beta/rc (pre-) release. Pre-release versions of programs are NOT encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or for anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent, breakage. Pre-release versions of programs ARE recommended for developers and those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs (or are curious).
    Pep talk:
..to Intrepid users, they are already on the cutting edge and no extra dangers lie this way...

    So:
    Alt + F2 : kdesudo kwrite /etc/apt/sources.list.d/experimental.list
    Dropping there
    Code:
    deb [url]http://ppa.launchpad.net/mornfall/ubuntu[/url] intrepid main
    man sources.list
    SOURCES.LIST.D

The /etc/apt/sources.list.d directory provides a way to add sources.list entries in seperate files that end with .list. The format is the same as for the regular sources.list file.

          Got it! Thanks Rog.

Hmmmmmmmm. This morning Alt-F2 appears to be broken, but I ran Kate out of the Konsole, made the experimental source.list and got the new Adept packages. So far, all I'm getting are crashes, but at least it's the NEW Adept crashing now, instead of the old one.

            Re: Adept 3 Alpha 6

Thankx rog but I am not having such luck.

Made the experimental.list did update/upgrade and get this:
            fintanintrepid@fintanws2:~$ sudo apt-get upgrade
            Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
            Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut
            Lese Status-Informationen ein... Fertig
Die folgenden Pakete sind zurückgehalten worden:
            adept gwenview
0 aktualisiert, 0 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 2 nicht aktualisiert.
            fintanintrepid@fintanws2:~$
meaning adept and gwenview are being held back.

            Synaptic shows:
            adept new version: 3.0~alpha6+ubuntu1

            any ideas?

              Re: Adept 3 Alpha 6

I'm seeing the same thing, Fintan. Even dist-upgrade isn't installing it.

I'm guessing the repo's being upgraded with newer versions and they held it until everything's sync'd.

                Re: Adept 3 Alpha 6

I did the upgrade by using the command:
                Code:
                sudo apt-get install adept
                REMOVING:
                adept-batch adept-common adept-installer adept-manager adept-notifier adept-updater
                ...
                Installing NEW packages:
                apt-xapian-index python-debian python-xapian
                ...
                Upgrading
                adept libept0
                ...

2 updated, 3 new installation, 6 removed and 0 unupdated.

Maybe the problem with the upgrade/dist-upgrade is the depedency:

Yes, I eventually did the install - and got it to work.

But, I'd rather have the working v2 notifier at this point, so I've gone back to v2. I generally update from the command line or synaptic anyway.

                    Code:
                    sudo apt-get install adept
                    That did it. Thank you.

It doesn't start from the systray (notifyer) of kmenu you have to do kdesudo apept but looks clean and works well for installing. Sources are missing and I wonder how it will handle large updates /grades.
