But what about the indignity of having to use Vista as a stop gap! It runs like a pig. I guess it doesn't help when you shrink the partition down to 5 Gb

This worked for me copied from the Ubuntu forum *********NOT MY WORK*********

Option "AutoAddDevices" "off"
It Worked For Me™. Be sure to revert this change once an official fix comes out - which would be setting up hal and the evdev driver to handle our input devices.

Hmm - there are double widgets running (Add widgets window):
- Application runner 2
- Digital clock 2
- New Device Notifier 2
- System Tray 2
- Task Manager 2
but the desktop shows only one.
I noticed yesterday when using kmenueditor that it was showing 2 of every package. Kinda weird .... I didn't attempt to "fix" anything, just did a little edit and closed it back up. Hoping later updates will resolve whatever that is all about.
