Wireless not working, Dell Latitude D400, Kubuntu 8.10

Hi everybody,
I've got a problem, it seems that my wireless can't use the DHCP protocol, so I'm stuck with this because the network manager can't connect. I found that maybe Wicd could help me but I'm not quite sure and I don't want to mess too much (still not) with my computer.
Does anybody knows what can I do?
