internet with a maxon and bigpond isp

Hi all I am fairly new to linux based programmes so be gentle.
I currently use a maxonbp3-ext a wireless modem with bigpond in australia. I have no internet with kubuntu, when I fire up my vista or xp I use a disc supplied by bigpond and this gives me wireless access. Unfortunately I cannot use this disc with kubuntu. My other problem is if I recieve information how do I transfer it to my computer that has kubuntu on it. I have tried to use ndiswrapper but no success. Any advice would be greatfully accepted

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I presume you have looked at the following thread in the How To section of this forum:
    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3086645.0

The above may be for a different hardware connection.

Also, sister Forum Ubuntu has a long thread on Maxon and Bigpond:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=477067

    HTH.

          ??

KPPP is normally for a dialup modem.
I thought you were going thru a wireless router connected to a broadband connection?

For some reason the term wireless modem got attached to a device that is 1- a wireless Ethernet network device, and 2- an Ethernet to ADSL (or cable) router to the internet (via your ISP) for broadband connections.

Please, I am not talking down to you, but just covering all bases here....
Do you have a wireless adapter connected to your Kubuntu box?
Do you see your wireless adapter in KWiFiManager?
Do you have any password setup for connecting to your wireless router?

You need to connect to the wireless part of your "modem" first.
