How to login in on a different Xserver

    Hello,

I have one Server with a openSUSE 11.0 and KDE 4.2.0 all ok on this side.

My Laptop has to be a Windwos Laptop, no chance for a dual boot.
I run my Laptop with a kubunu 8.10 live CD. The wlan setting are ok and the laptop is conneced to

Now I like to login from this laptop at the kdm of my other PC.

I thought of X -broadcast IPISPLAY to do this.

But all my tries failed. I there an other alternative way to login in at the kDM of the other PC?

    Thanks a lot

i'm not sure i understand how you expect this thing to work.
    but there's reading ahead...
i think what you need is XDMCP.
    i think!
you could start by taking a look at the XDM wikipedia entry.
then you should know that xdmcp is disabled by default in ubuntu systems.
in our (kubuntu) case it needs to be enabled in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc.
although (if i understand correctly what you want to do) you'll have to set this up on your suse...

You might also want to take look at NX http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_technology
It can (probably) be used like vnc to remote control the whole desktop but I am using it in my home network to control single applications on my htpc server while the server's own display is dedicated to media center.

The client is also available for windows, if it works as good as linux version you don't need to use livecd. At least this guy got it working http://www.imovedtolinux.com/2008/11...o-machine.html

I installed the free edition of No Machine's nx-server and it was quite easy but if you want use it from outside you probably need to do more configuring
      I followed this guide:
