    VPN Client Killed my settings...

I had a great connection, no problems until I got my VPN working, all my net traffic started to go through my VPN connection instead of just using the default route, I know this can be avoided if you setup the VPN right but I broke it before I knew the way to avoid this problem.

I am using the latest x64 version, and have attempted to remove all .kde folder settings and resetup the rest of the system, found a few commands to flush different things, but nothing seems to return my net connection back to the default install settings.

What is the fastest way to go on this issue with OUT reinstalling the the entire OS, I removed all the network manager settings, reinstalled everything a few times, but nothings seems to recreate the default network setup which is all I want at this point.

My problem is that I can connect to the network, but every program that needs DNS or some related to Network the program stalls for about 20 seconds, this includes using Firefox and going from one web page to another.

Out of ideas at this point, and sorry if this question is answered somewhere else its almost impossible to search with out the browser timing out. Same hardware works with XP fine, and this worked fine until I setup VPN, before removing VPN if I connected to VPN the network perfectly again, but I dont want my home machine connected to work 24 hours a day, I like the way i have it setup for XP, just connect when I need data or email, and use my normal connection the rest of the time.

Thanks in advance for all the Help!

My two biggest complaints for KDE are:

    • The NETWORK manager in KDE 4.2 is a pile of #&%$ btw, riddled with bugs, lacks features and easy of use that even .XML parsing errors, GNome has included already.

Adept are the two most hated things about KDE 4.2 everything else rocks.

I have the issue narrowed down a bit more, looks like the resolv.conf is getting appended with the same wrong data over and over again

    # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
    # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN

I tried finding where theis file is updated and working on that end of it but it seems to be pulling this data from somewhere I cannot find.

Removed the program that was trying to help me, once I set the file manually it stays looks like it's fixed unless I want to have VPN along with normal non VPN, just have to do it manually. This is was about a day of struggle, shouldn't be this hard.

So which program was "helping" you? I also am being tormented by resolv.conf being overwritten, and I would like to disable the helpful program as well. It boggles my mind to think that there is actually a program which intentionally overwrites that file.

      Thanks!!
