Adding network terminals without nComputing hardware

I'm kind of new to Kubuntu and sort of a beginner with this. What I would like help on or information is whether I can add two or more terminals (something similar to nComputing) but without using nComputing hardware. I have a couple of good D-Link network (PCI) cards in good working condition, keyboards, mice, screens I can put to good use for my kids. Appreciate all the help the community can provide. I did a search with several keywords but it did not yield the information I was looking for.

Here is what I have -
    Pentium Dual Core 2.2 MHz
    2 Gig DDR2 Mem
    Kubuntu 8.10 - Intrepid
    160 Gig SATA Hard Drive
    CD & DVD Drives

    Question/s:
Can I connect additional thin clients (by thin I mean just screen & input devices)?
If yes, is there some documentation under kubuntu.org?
If yes, will I need any other hardware in addition to what I already have?
Where else can I find documentation?

    Thanks very much.

    PS: My kids love Kubuntu!
