Kubuntu Wireless - Don't Think its working on my laptop :( HPZV5020US

    Hi everyone,

Just trying to set up Kubuntu on my girlfriends laptop but have came to realise the wireless chip does not appear to be working with Kubuntu as standard which is quite annoying.

I've searched around on the internet and have tried using ndiswrapper but I still have no way to connect to the network which i'm sitting right next to.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working!? Any help would be very much appreciated.

I think its a broadcom chip and ndiswrapper did say it was installed and the hardware was found. But still had no luck with that.

If i type iwconfig into konsole wlan0 shows something there? but when i try to scan or set the essid it says it won't support it.

Many thanks for any quick help .

Hi There. It seems Kubuntu is having a lot of wireless problems now. Wireless on all 3 of my laptops does not work and they all have different chips, Intel, broadcom and netgear. I was having a wireless problem on my IBM r31 and the PCMCIA Netgear card so last night I completely wiped the drive and installed pclinux2007. It recognized everything in this machine from the live cd so I installed it. Well after putting in my wep password it configured and is running flawlessly. This is how linux is suppose to work. I put the live cd in my Dell with the broadcom chip and it even sees that one. I've been waiting for a response to my question for days now but no one has answered it. If this is the course that these forums are going to take I'm sure Kubuntu won't last. I hope someone helps you sooner than they did me. Best of luck.
