Internet connection went down all of a sudden

I am wondering if I can get some help with an Internet problem I am having. I am a noob so please be patient. I am currently posting this thread on my laptop running Fedora 9. The problem is on my desktop running Kubuntu. I have a Hawking usb network adapter for the desktop. All of a sudden it dropped the Internet connection (again). I rebooted twice to see if it could pick it back up, to no avail. The network shows the Power, Link, and Strong Signal LEDs lit. Knetworkmanager shows a weak signal to my access point built into the university apartment complex where I live.

What command(s) in terminal do I need to input in order to troubleshoot? What output(s) do I need to post for you to help me, please?

Your help is greatly appreciated in advance.

    Regards,
    theAdmiral

Knetworkmanager is in my experience a bit flaky. Have you also got networkmanager installed (the gnome application) which in my view works much better? Try that.
