How to dial a connection to internet using Kubuntu 8.10

I have a broadband connection at home. At first, my ISP automatically connected me to the internet as soon as I turned on the modem without asking for username and password. At that time my internet worked fine with Kubuntu 8.10.

But now I have to dial the connection using the username and password. But I donot know how to do this from Kubuntu. Please help.

    Try pppoe.
    Code:
    sudo pppoeconf

      Hi,

I'm sort of having the same -- or at least related -- problem: I already used ppoeconf to configure my dsl connection. It works fine when connecting with "pon dsl-provider". But I cannot see this connection in KNetworkManager. Am I missing something?

More precisely: I configured the dsl connection back in Kubuntu 8.04. And back then I was able to establish my configured dsl connection using KNetworkManager. But now -- after an upgrade to Kubuntu 8.10 -- KNetworkManager seems to have lost the ability to establish dsl connections.

      Thanks for any hints,
      Christian
