    Getting wlanconfigure

When I coultn't get the D-Link Air (Atheros chip) back to work after two power outages I installed Ibis on the other HD. I had been using madwifi under Hardy and the only problem I was having is that I was having to re-enter the essid and key at every reboot. I have found somewhere tha wlanconfig is part of madwifi. I haven't installed madwifi ti Intrepid because it has so many stepo already done. Do I need to install madwifi? Will that mess up what's already there? Should I somehow extract wlanconfig? At this point it will scan but not connect--believe it only lacks essid and key but I don't know how to insert them without wlanconfig.
