Huge fonts while installing

First of: Hi everyone!

Now, to the topic.

I have a HP Compaq nc8430, runing with Windows Colossus edition. I downloaded Kubuntu 8.10 and tryed to install it. After noticing something weird while doing it (fonts are huge, even the instalation bar after the boot..), tryed to run.

Login screen was... chaotic. Everything resized to match the size 72 fonts (at least). After login ..hardly, everything got fine, but fonts again. Every window resized to match the fonts but the main tittle bar.

Tryed the 8.04 and it was the same.

Help needed, and keep in mind ...im new, not stupid, but new, so im have no idea about comands or how to use them.

I had the same problem. I pressed f4 (I think) and selected safe graphics mode and I could finally read the screen. Once I got installed, took the live cd out, and rebooted, every thing was just fine. The same thing happened when I used the qparted live cd. hope this helps.
