Kubuntu 8.10 on Dell Mini 9 - Cannot Login (GUI) After Installation

Hi,
I've just bought a Dell Inspiron mini 9 with Windows "What was available".
16 GB SSD, 1GB RAM & probably you know the rest.

I installed Kubuntu 8.04 & updated it (which performed fine), then I've chose to upgrade to 8.10.
After completing the package download & upgrades & when it reaches the login screen it just does nothing.

1st, the sides of the screen looks awkward (multi colours and stripes).
2nd, the mouse & the keyboard doesn't work at the login screen.
3rd, the cursor of the mouse is blinking. (The computer is not in freeze state)

I've tried to Alt+F1 & it worked, I was working in the CLI.

I rebooted in the safe mode & chose to fix the xserver configurations but no use.

I'm running out of ideas, I cannot login through the GUI to do anything.

Any idea?

In one shell I tried:

sudo X -configure

Blank screen is there. (stays for sometime)

I open another shell.

tail -f /var/log/Xorg.0.log

(WW) Falling back to old probe method for glint
(WW) Falling back to old probe method for sisusb
(WW) Falling back to old probe method for i128

(WW) Falling back to old probe method for neomagic
(WW) Falling back to old probe method for ark
(WW) Falling back to old probe method for vga

The previous output stays like that for sometimes as well.

Back to 1st shell

There is a bug regarding the VGA in launchpad

I've seen some people running 8.10 either Ubuntu or Kubuntu on Dell without problems.

Ideas?
