sudo doesn't work under the Kubuntu 8.10 Live CD environment. Try it, and you get a message to the effect that you don't have sufficient privileges to "sudo" things. The live user is apparently not in the sudoers group, let alone root.
This isn't the case with such things as System Rescue CD, Parted Magic CD, and (apparently) Puppy Linux. There, you're root, so you can do anything you need to do.Comment
