    Install Problems with Video

I had some problems at the end of the year that required a fresh install of 8.10. (Thanks Dibl!) I took the opportunity to install a new video card (this is an older system) to take advantage of the new desktop. The video card is a Diamond Stealth S120. It has an ATI Radeon chip.

The system gets to a point where the screen looks like a bad acid trip and then it goes black and shows an "X" cursor. Then....nothing. I have to reboot.

    Any ideas?

When you get stuck on black screen, does anything happen if you hit "ctrl + alt + f1" ?

      Nothing!

I tried to install using the safe graphics mode and it worked. I now have a fresh install of Kubuntu!

How do I find the driver being used by the graphics card?

As far as I know your card is ATI Radeon 9550. You can get the drivers from the link below:

        Hope this helps.
