    Install on HP DL380-G3 server

Trying to install Kubuntu on the above server configured with one gig of ram, six 146gig hard drives in a RAID 0+1 configuration, no spares.

During boot of the install CD, it hangs while configuring ACPI. I go into a second terminal and kill the ACPI process. Booting resumes and hangs at cupsd, again I kill the process. Booting continues and allows me to run the install. After install is complete, I reboot and KUbuntu hangs while detecting hardware.

In the ROM options, I have set the OS Selection to Linux and Other with the same result. I also used SmartStart to wipe all ROM settings and reconfigured for Linux, same problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi

First off, you may want to report here:
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/138526

    Someone reported success with 8.04:
    http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.....php?p=6188359

Also: Are you installing the kubuntu-desktop? Would it probably be wise to try the ubuntu-server version? (and then get kubuntu-desktop installed on top)

    Hope this helps!

Re: Install on HP DL380-G3 server

      Thank you for the reply...

My ultimate goal is to get the server running as an LinuxMCE server. Unfortunately, their install DVD does not work. It creates the partitions, then tries to install to /dev/cciss/c0d01, when the partitions are created, they are created as /dev/cciss/c0d0p1. Another LinuxMCE user had the same problem and installed Kubuntu first on a Dell PowerEdge server.

Any who, I will try your suggestion and see what happens.

      Thanks
