    Installation/Live Booting Problem

I'll keep this short and sweet:

I'm having trouble booting from my Live CD, or booting into the install dialogue with Kubuntu. I can get the initial screen, make my choice, but it irrevocably sends me off into the Ubuntu CLI, instead of pulling up the Kubuntu GUI and Operating System proper.

I'm not particularly stupid when it comes to computers, but I confess to being completely in-experienced in using Linux-based OSs.

Any help you could give me would be much appreciated.

    Regards, T_S

You didn't provide the graphics card/controller you have in your system. Usually, the issue you are having is related to video conflicts. That said, reboot the LiveCD. At the main menu, look at the bottom of the screen. F4 provides for using Safe Graphics (VESA) for installing.

Sorry, I didn't think that the Graphics would be relevant:

      GFX: nVidia 6800 GT (Gainward) 256Mb x2; SLi-Configuration. Driver: v6.14.11.6375

I'll try the 'Safe Mode' graphics just now and get back to you.

      [Edit]

      Tried, didn't work.

The dialogue I get at the top of the CLI is as follows:

      [ 0.00400] Aperture beyond 4GB. Ignoring.
      Loading, please wait...
      Linux unbuntu 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:40:41 UTC 2008 x86_64

The strangest thing is that I've had this disc running before, because I've marked it as having been tested. I don't know what could possibly have changed in my configuration that it won't/can't run now.

      [Edit]

It occured to me that the SLi configuration might've had something to do with it, sadly not. It fails just as readily in SLi mode as it does in Single graphics.
