    Window turns gray and freezes

Yet another new "feature" kicked me in the rear. I mistyped (or misclicked) something -- I don't know what -- and the window I was working in turned gray and froze. Eventually I managed to reactivate it, but I'm not sure how I did that either.

    What probably happened?

Kickoff doesn't use flyouts -- why not?

Under the old-style KDE3 K menu, you could move the cursor to a category and the items in that category would fly out to the right. That made it easy to scan the categories for a particular item. Under Kickoff you have to click on a category to see what's in it.

I mentioned this earlier, but what I didn't realize at the time is that KDE3 got it right. What possible purpose could be served by Kickoff's changed behavior?

        That small white box?

What is that small white box that keeps popping up on the screen all about? It has three lines near the top and a small white screen under that. Clicking on it does nothing that I can see. I finally discovered that I could make it go away by right-clicking on it and choosing "close", at least.

In the repos in a add on called "Lancelot" This can be added to the panel and replace the k menu. Much better than the K menu.

I took your suggestion and brought in Lancelot. It doesn't have flyouts either as far as I can tell. Since the old-style KDE menu has them, I doubt if there's any real implementation problem.
