    8.10 64Bit is 100% ...but baffled

I've had problems just getting 8.10 x86 to load and finally it's 100% all working and on its own too

now for the baffled part... I've always used 8.04 x86 (32 bit) version on my AMD 64 without any problems. So when 8.10 was released, I downloaded the same x86 version for my 'puter and it wouldn't work. I always thought that it would not make much difference.
Today, still not wanting to give up on 8.10, I tried 64 version and it loaded up just fine...installed without a glitch too ! Why would 8.04 32 work on my system and not 8.10 32

This same "issue" has been observed by others as well. Don't have an answer.

Why would you want to run 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit? I realize many do it because 64 bit was premature, but even then I ran 64 bit without any issues. The key was installing lib32 to the 32 bit only programs worked just fine. This is something the 64 bit versions now do by default.

If I had to guess, it is likely due to kernel changes, but I am no expert on that matter.

I guess I just got so used to running the i386 version that I didn't give it a second thought when 8.10 was released.
