    Adept Manager Semi-Works???

OK. I installed II Beta on my laptop and never had an issue of Third-Part Repos Entries not showing. Install the Final Release on my Desktop and added my Third Part Repos. Adept Manager "refreshes" the list but the entires that should be added to the list don't show. Anyone else? Some packages I was able to add via Konsole.

Same here: Adept wouldn't see some packages that I was able to install via Konsole. And also, it often crashes while searching packages.

I've been upgrading since I installed Beta, right through this morning, and it's been working fine. I would think if you paste in a valid /etc/apt/source.list file, it will be read accordingly by Adept Manager. Here's mine, which has the US repos and the third parties:

      Code:
      # deb cdrom:[Kubuntu 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ - Alpha amd64 (20081004)]/ intrepid main restricted

        Re: Adept Manager Semi-Works

Well this was added by Medibuntu's method which has always worked for me. I've been using adept manager on the laptop since Beta and it does fine. This fresh install on my desktop does not behave the same. Something is different, just don't know what.

I tried using the Adept Installer and find it rather hard to use. I have ended up using Synaptic instead. I really preferred the Adept Manager which is no longer available. At least Synaptic will allow you to search through all of the packages and not in confusing catergories.

The latest update for adept is great. In "search" the little square and triangle and the blue, green and brown colours that didn't seem to work have been replaced with real graphics and typing any sequence of four or more characters brings the right response showing installed, uninstalled, to be upgraded.
The changes show what you are going to do - including all that will be uninstalled, upgraded or installed, and the progress shows how its going, great when you have a slower connection.
I'm glad I persevered, now adept is much better.

Yes, it has come a long way. Rather nice package manager now!

                Re: Adept Manager Semi-Works

Well, I don't know what happened. Today the squares and triangle are back but typing "tar " for example brings up all the packages with tar. However, I tried to install sun java 6 jre yesterday and gave up after an hour when the download speed was about 2 to 3 kB/second. I use an internet cafe and pay by the hour.
This morning, I tried again with adept and it gave me the wonderful message. sun java package broken - try using synaptic to fix the broken package. I went to synaptic, found the broken package, marked for reinstall and fortunately within a few seconds synaptic installed everything properly - finished. I still like adept but synaptic has some advantages like fixing broken packages and showing the packages from each of the repositories.
