i want to upgrade from HH to II I have a daily build desktop that boots live. I have my /home on a different partition.

how do i just trash my /root using a desktop daily build?

How about stuffing the CD into the drive, and telling it to format the / partition and mount it as /, and mount your /home as /home... but not to format it?

I have always dist-upgraded my system. I have never done a reinstall or upgrade.

I wasn't sure if i could do it so I asked. I looked for a HOWTO and didn't see it.

BTW, your response comes across as smart a**, nice way to encourage the noobs to ask questions.

There are a few ways of doing this.

Edit: having said that I would suggest that, provided you have the space, you do a fresh instalation and give it a different user.

This for a few reasons this being the main one:
- kde4.1 is not quite finished yet and you may need the trusty kde3 for some things.
I use kde4.1 (II Beta) 99% of the time but hey, call me careful.

I have the Oct-8 daily build and it runs but ubiquty wouldn't run. > :P

so im now downloading todays daily build and burn it and will hope it works...
