Re: Failed to start X on centrino notebook

I found a workaround for this trouble.
I forced the X server to use the "intel" dirivers and not autodetect the card
Also I set 16 bit color depht
In this way the X server start correctly but I have many crashes of Phyton and also playing video with VLC after a few seconds the whole X server crashes.
I tried specifying the amount of video RAM but it's the same.
Anyone knows the better configuraton for Intel 855GM integrated card?

Re: Failed to start X on centrino notebook

I had a similar problem with a "centrino" notebook (intel GMA 950 decellerator).
After the upgrade I could not get past the X login screen, basically X crashed and it created an endless loop for the graphical login into KDE.

The way I "fixed" this issue is to go to the session type option in the login screen, and select KDE instead of "default / previous". I think that the settings from hardy are incompatible with those from intrepid and that a new "default" session has t be defined.

It may be a long shot, but it may help you.
